Dear Family!
This week has been nuts. Absolutely
nuts!
Yesterday in Relief Society we were trying to
say the closing prayer but because it is a room full of Mexican Ladies that
like chismos it was difficult. SO! this one hermana in true mexican fashion
brings in the spirit by yelling in a purely mexican soccer announcer way....
ORACIOOOOON! I about died laughing and trying to keep it together. Elva a
recent convert was sitting next to me and we couldn't stop laughing...shoulder
shake laughing. There was an hermana that say behind me and was like,
"Hermana, esta bien alegre si?" SO FUNNY!
I picked up an investigator by myself. We were
on exchanges and I was with an english sister. So I had to speak spanish by
myself. It was such a cool experience! Her name is Maria and she loves the Book
of Mormon! and BOY does she need the Gospel in her life. She is going through a
lot right now. She is trying so hard to be a good mom! She's totally going to
get baptized!
So I took the color test...I'm a red.
Apparently that explains a lot. I'm not sure how to take that. But!
Its so dang cute. All the kids in the ward
don't say Hermana they say 'mana. I just love it! Little kids spanish is so adorable....and
yep some of them laugh at me. But its ok they can't speak english very well and
I take comfort in that? I'm an awful person! HAHAHA
So we went on exchanges again and I was able
to go back in my old area! Man I love those people. But Because I'm a visa
waiter I can't drive and because the sister that I was with has health issues
that make it so she can't drive we had to walk the whole time. Which I would
have been fine with but it was POURING rain and I didn't bring my rain coat on
the exchange OR an umbrella. So I got SOAKED...thank you Elder Mckee the car
coordinator. He wouldn't give me permission for a day. Exact obedience. :/ ha
ha ha ha but now...I'm sick. Its kinda the worst but MILAGRO! I don't act sick
when I'm teaching. Like I'm completely fine except for my old people croaky
voice. But then I get home and am sick again. Its amazing! Miracle!
MILARGO! So we were on exchanges...I go on a
lot of exchanges. We were knocking doors and no one was answering even if they
were in the house, rude. but it happens. So it was like the last one before we
had to switch back and I was like lets go try this one. This lady answers the
door and she is just like Oh good I've been wanting to talk to you! She tells
us that she took the lessons before but she was having law of chastity problems. She lived with her BF and had a baby out of wedlock. But she's since moved out.
Her baby was blessed and she was like I want to know what time church starts. I
want to go tomorrow.
I want to be baptized. So we took down her name and number. She was in the
English ward though so we had to hand her off to the English elders in that
area but WOW! We were totally an answer to someone's prayer right there! I LOVE
BEING A MISSIONARY!
We had zone training meeting this week. that
was cool! I got to hit a pinata lion. That's how they introduced the goal of
390 baptism by the end of the year. I also played the piano so that was cool!
So we handed out a Libro de Mormon yesterday
to this seeming cool guy that was like yeah come over to my house I want to
learn. (He was at a bus stop) We walk by again and the LdM was on top of a
trash can. We saw him at anther bus stop and waved it at him. He turned around
embarrassed. What a little turn. Its ok. We'll get him later. It made me
angry though. You don't put the word of God on something that people put trash
in!!
EMERGENCY Transferred. Yep. 3 Areas in 8
weeks. Don't worry I'm not a problem child....at least I don't think so :/ ha
ha ha ;) President is putting all the visa waiters in the same district
so that when we do go to Argentina it will be easier to transfer people. Does
that mean its coming soon?? One of the elders from my MTC district got his. He
is leaving on Oct.
28th. Weird right?? I have to update my fingerprints though. So did
Elder Thurgood but apparently that doesn't push it back they just want updated
ones? We'll see when I get it!
Zendejas. An hermano asked me if my name was
lentejas...like lentels in spanish. No. I laughed though. I was like hermano.
Its a mexican last name!
On the down side. I am sick of mexicans
telling me that I should learn spanish because its my culture. I've gotten that
so many times next time I'm just gonna be like what I'm not Mexican I'm Native
and Italian and Polish. But I can't do that I would feel bad. Until then I will
just grin and bear it i suppose. I'm learning a lot about patience. We'll see I
guess!
On a brighter note the work is progressing. I
love it out here. I will be excited to go to Argentina but I know that the Lord
is in the details of your lives. This is His work and it will go forward as the
Work of Salvation should! I love you all tons! I can feel the love and prayers
and send them right back out to you! LOVE LOVE LOVE YOU ALL!
Hermana Zendejas
*Sorry, I don't know how to rotate them! ~Meredith
