This week I found a theme in my readings. We are of God; His people not anyone else's as long as we keep the commandments we will remain under his influence. This week a lot of the story in the Book of Mormon, like most of the stories in Nephi, were about the differences between Nephi & Sam and Laman & Lemuel.
There was one part that emphasized the fact that the Liahona, the families guide in the wilderness, was not made of man but was of God. The rest of the stories are then comparisons for what the natural man would do and what people of God would do.
They all had to live through trials but the difference was that Nephi asked for help in his trials and worked hard to overcome them. Laman and Lemual just expected life to be easy. Followers of God and Christ act and rely on God. We are not cheap, we are not easily swayed. We have a divine purpose and nature. We are quality individuals. He has a higher work for us to do, stuff that will be easier if we endured our trials.
Love,
Lexi
