Hola familia!
I'm heading into week 3 and I can't believe it! It doesn't feel like its
been that long! Time flies here...didn't think that the first week but its true
once you make it to your first p-day time speeds up! We've finished teaching
Juan. He's getting baptized...aw yeah! Now we have 3 new investigators: Raul,
Silvia, and Roberto. Haven't met Roberto yet, we have an appointment with
him tomorrow. Can I tell you its un poco wierd having your teachers be
your investigators and then after they come into class and ask you what you are
going to teach Raul and he looks earily similar to your teacher?! Yep that
happens.
A district in our zone left this week. So sad! I cried but
it wasn't awkward this time because everyone was crying...even the elders.
Let's face it, it was mostly the elders. Sunday night after movie and
devotional we gathered around the Samuel Smith statue and sang "God be
with you 'til we meet again" en espanol. You could definitely feel the
spirit and the love that our zone has for each other. They are so great.
So on friday nights we have gym time for like an
hour and the zone goes to the sand volleyball pits and plays! I LOVE IT! This
week we went up there and it was kinda packed and we went to get a ball.
They were out of volleyball's so we had to play with a somewhat deflated
soccerball. One of the elders was like "I feel like we are desecrating two
sports right now and I don't know what to do about it!?!" it was kinda
hilarious! I got tiny bruises on my arms the next day but it was so worth it!
So Roberto...one of our investigators is "16". The
elders taught him the other day and the set of elders that taught him came back
and en serio looked like they were about to cry. Their faces were red and
another Elder walked in to tell the other elders it was their turn to go and
said "May God have mercy on your soul! I don't know why we even planned
everything we said he just shot down and everything we tried to do he made fun
of us for because our spanish wasn't that great. Why plan?!" I know we
shouldn't have laughed but when he said that combined with the look on the
other elders faces...we couldn't help it. We are determined to make this lesson
with Roberto tomorrow go well.
I SAW CARMEN!!! Ruben. She said to learn Portuguese
before you get there. After 3 weeks they don't allow you to speak only what you
know its straight up Portuguese!
We had devotional yesterday and we sang in the choir! We
sang "Nearer My God To Thee". It was so amazing. Also at devotional
we made history by taking the largest panoramic MTC photo with 3500
missionaries. Also I got to sit next to Carmen at the devo. so we are next to
each other in the picture!! So cool!
One thing that I loved about the talk was when Elder Richard
Hinckley talked about leaving the mission with no regrets. He said the biggest
sorrow a missionary can feel is that of regret. The mission is going to be hard
and trials will come but the most pain we can feel is regret. So don't come
home saying "I wish I would have" but "I'm glad I did". I'm
so glad that I decided to serve a mission. I can already feel myself changing
but the biggest reason is because I know that no matter what pains and
afflictions and sorrows I may suffer on my mission or even in life I know that
I have a Savior and Redeemer that has payed the price for me already. I don't
have to feel those if I but USE the Atonement and feel the Savior's love. Its
right there and He's waiting for us to take it! but other people don't know
about this amazing thing Christ has done for us. Other people NEED to not just
hear it but to know it and utilize it or our Savior suffered for naught! I love
this Gospel so much!
I love you all!! SO SO MUCH! Give the kiddies hugs and
kisses for me!
Love,
